Governance

Our Trustees are elected for three-year terms, and form the Council of Management. They are responsible for the governance of StepUp, and for ensuring that it operates within the regulations of the governing bodies. It’s also their job to make sure that StepUp makes the best use of the resources available to us.

The Council of Management meets quarterly, and holds an Annual General Meeting in November of each year. They make strategic decisions for the next year, make sure there are policies in place to protect StepUp against expected risks, and elect new Trustees, when necessary. The Council of Management is made up of the Central Board and the Regional Boards.

We also have Local Boards and Management, which meet monthly and are responsible for the use of resources and the welfare of the students in their areas.

Finally, we have the Youth Cabinet, where we invite young people to share first-hand experiences of the programmes we offer. The Youth Chair leads the cabinet and represents their voice on the Central Board. The Cabinet also plays a pivotal role in giving back to the communities that host StepUp.

If you are passionate about empowering youth through education, and you have skills that would contribute to our mission, please contact us! Serving on our Council or Senior Management Team is both incredibly challenging and incredibly rewarding. We’re always happy to talk with those interested in serving youth. (And that includes the youth themselves!)
